Design is important!

"I feel that the design of the deck is the most important aspect of the project! Not the actual construction method but rather how the impending structure will complement the house and suit the needs of the individual person and situation the lot provides. The most common deck is a square or rectangle with a table area centered off the patio door. The outcome of this is a basic deck with a table existing in a major traffic area. Space is not utilized. In using the same square footage and materials, a more practical deck can be designed and become an integral part of the house. Even in colder climates, where a deck can be used seven or eight months, the proper design can provide an appealing addition all year long."
